Witness the Cutting Edge Way of Conducting Physical Asset Verification

By Baishakhi Saha | Internet of Things

Where exactly does the need for asset verification arise? We often find ourselves wasting enormous amounts of time looking for the things that we immediately need. In a business environment, especially in a manufacturing or a factory setup, workers and supervisors often end up searching for tools & equipment which directly affects the overall productivity of the company. But most importantly, during periodic audits, physical verification of assets ought to take place devoid of any hassle wherein their existence needs to be verified to maintain consistency in internal compliance.

In this blog post, we will show you the various mechanisms and technologies available for indoor asset verification and also showcase a proof of concept of an asset tracking device using one of the widely available technologies. When deployed, this can help bypass the tedious manual search process and can save time and money for the stakeholders responsible for the organization’s assets.

Worrying About Rising Energy Bills? Realtime IoT Energy Management Is At Your Disposal

By Surya Igor | Cloud Computing , Internet of Things

There are quite a few things we take for granted in our day-to-day lives. Public utilities are one such example. We assume that the electricity and water supply will be at our disposal 24/7. This leads to wastage, and excessive wastage and malpractice lead to further deterioration of the environment. Thanks to the awareness around climate change and the advancements in renewable energy sources, we are in a better position to safeguard our future generations by ensuring a sustainable supply of energy for our day-to-day needs. Still, a lot needs to be done toward achieving self-sustained living and this is where technology can help us. In this blog post, we present yet another amalgamation of things that can be managed using that game-changer, the “Internet of Things.” In this case, it’s an IoT energy management system for tracking electricity supply and consumption.

How smart garbage bins powered by LoRaWAN can become an integral part of a smart city

By Surya Igor | Internet of Things

Following my earlier post on Introducing the Microchip RN2483, I am writing this application blog post to showcase how LoRaWAN can be used for enabling waste management by means of a smart garbage bin. LoRaWAN provides long range wireless communication with ultra-low power consumption that enables very long battery life.

We built a proof of concept for garbage bin level tracking device, based on Raspberry Pi + Arduino Uno, and then optimized it further with a custom circuit to make a production grade bin level sensor(BLS) for smart city use cases. In this post, we will show you how you can quickly hack together a proof-of-concept of a functional smart garbage bin on Raspberry Pi using LoRaWAN. For more details about the custom BLS, please get in touch with us.

Build a Facilities Management IoT Chatbot with Azure IoT Hub

By Aravindan Chandrasekaran | Internet of Things

Managing thousands of IoT devices via a dashboard may not always be the most intuitive way. After all, who wants to scan through the clutter of a thousand different things and their notifications. In this blog post, we show you a unique approach to solve this problem through an IoT chatbot. Just like you chat with your co-workers, you can also chat with your devices, and they can respond back too.

Read on to know how a facilities management team interacts with the device/assets via a chat interface to make their maintenance chores easier and seamless.  This chat interface is powered by the Azure IoT Hub and PubNub.
